Motorola’s Edge series has carved a niche for itself in the smartphone market, offering capable devices without breaking the bank. The Moto Edge 40 Neo continues this tradition, boasting a stylish design, a long-lasting battery, and a capable camera system, all at a competitive price point.

Design and Display

The Edge 40 Neo stuns with its large, 6.55-inch pOLED display. This near bezel-less panel offers a crisp FHD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate for a fluid visual experience. Whether you’re browsing the web, watching videos, or gaming, the display delivers vibrant colors and sharp details.

Motorola has partnered with the Pantone Color Institute for the Edge 40 Neo, giving you a choice of trendy colors, including the calming Peach Fuzz (Pantone Color of the Year 2024) alongside Caneel Bay, Black Beauty, and Soothing Sea. The back of the phone comes in either a sleek acrylic finish (Black Beauty) or a soft vegan leather (other colors), adding a touch of elegance.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the Edge 40 Neo is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7030 processor, a capable mid-range chipset that can handle everyday tasks with ease. You can choose between 8GB or 12GB of RAM for smooth multitasking, and 128GB or 256GB of storage should be enough for most users.

A 5000mAh battery keeps the phone running all day long. When it’s time to recharge, the 68W TurboPower fast charging allows you to get back to 50% in just 15 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime.

The Moto Edge 40 Neo features a dual rear camera system with a primary 50MP sensor. This camera takes decent photos in good lighting conditions, capturing details and colors accurately. However, low-light performance might be a bit lacking. The phone also has a secondary camera for depth information.

The front-facing camera is well-suited for selfies and video calls.

Software and Other Features

The Edge 40 Neo runs the latest Android 13 operating system, offering a clean and user-friendly experience. Motorola promises two years of OS updates and three years of security updates, ensuring your phone stays protected and up-to-date.

The phone features an in-display fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking and supports dual SIM cards with 5G connectivity for blazing-fast internet speeds.

Verdict: A Well-Rounded Mid-Ranger

The Moto Edge 40 Neo is a solid mid-range smartphone that offers a lot of bang for your buck. It boasts a beautiful display, a long-lasting battery, and a decent camera system. With its stylish design and the latest Android software, the Edge 40 Neo is a compelling option for users who prioritize value without compromising on features.
