Mercedes-Benz India has launched a newer version of the GLE SUV in India. It starts at a price of Rs. 96.40 lakh (this price is before taxes and other charges) for three different versions. The new GLE SUV was introduced along with the C43 AMG, which is the last car Mercedes-Benz is releasing in 2023. You can book the GLE now, and the cars will start being delivered at the end of November 2023.
The GLE has some changes on the outside. It has new LED headlights, a single slat grille, different alloy wheels, and a changed rear bumper with new LED tail lights. The shape of the SUV remains the same, with functional roof rails, side steps, and black side mirrors.
Inside the GLE, the cabin has many updates. It gets a new steering wheel borrowed from the S-Class, a new MBUX system that connects with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly, and redesigned air vents for the air conditioning. It also has four-zone climate control, and ambient lighting. Other features include a wireless charger, seats that can be adjusted electronically, ventilated and powered front seats with a massage function, a 360-degree surround camera, a feature that lets you see what’s under the hood, electric sun blinds, and a panoramic sunroof. You can also choose from three different options for the upholstery, and there’s an optional off-road package.
The new Mercedes GLE comes with three engine options: a 2.0-liter diesel, a 3.0-liter diesel, and a 3.0-liter petrol engine. The four-cylinder petrol engine produces 265 horsepower and 550 Newton-meters of torque, while the six-cylinder engines produce 362 horsepower and 750 Newton-meters, and 375 horsepower and 500 Newton-meters. All the engines are connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

Inside the GLE facelift, there are elements inspired by the S-Class, like the multi-function steering wheel with haptic feedback buttons. Other new interior upgrades include chrome surrounds on the air conditioning vents, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a new 12.3-inch digital driver display. Other features in the GLE include a 13-speaker Burmester surround sound system, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, USB Type C ports, and Mercedes’ ‘Transparent Bonnet’ function.
Under the hood, the new GLE facelift has three engine options: a 2.0-liter diesel, a 6-cylinder diesel, and a 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine for the petrol-powered GLE 450. All the engines work with a mild-hybrid 48V integrated starter-generator (ISG) that adds 20 horsepower and 200 Newton-meters to the maximum power of the engines. All the powertrain options in the GLE come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels through Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
