Launched in late October 2023, the Oppo A79 carves a niche in the budget 5G smartphone market. Let’s delve into its key features to see if it lives up to the hype.

Display and Design:

The A79 boasts a sizable 6.72-inch FHD+ display, offering a crisp visual experience for everyday tasks like browsing and watching videos. The phone utilizes a “feather texture design” on the back, which provides a comfortable grip and minimizes fingerprint smudges.

Performance and Battery Life:

Under the hood, the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor handles everyday tasks and light gaming. It comes with RAM options of either 4GB or 8GB, allowing you to choose between affordability and multitasking prowess. Storage is capped at 128GB, which might be limiting for heavy users.

A saving grace is the massive 5000mAh battery, which should easily last a full day on a single charge. Oppo’s proprietary 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging ensures you’re not tethered to the wall for long periods.

The Oppo A79 sports a dual-camera system on the rear, with a 50MP main sensor and a secondary sensor (specifications not officially revealed). While it might not compete with high-end flagships, the 50MP sensor should capture decent photos in good lighting conditions.

Software and Other Features:

The phone runs on ColorOS, Oppo’s custom user interface based on Android. ColorOS is known for its user-friendly design and additional features. The A79 also boasts dual stereo speakers for an immersive multimedia experience.
